Genevieve (Jean) Makowski peacefully passed away on August 14, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Age 71. Born on July 31, 1953 in Camden, New Jersey. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Makowski and Genevieve Brodzik. A graduate from Cathedral Academy of Camden, Jean later made her home in Oaklyn, New Jersey.

Jeannie was a devoted sister to Diane Nipper of Florida, Joseph Makowski (Carolyn) of Glendora, and Michael and Mark Makowski of Cape May Court House. Her true joy came from being an exceptional aunt and great aunt to her nieces and nephews – Stacey Makowski (Julia), Jennifer Makowski (Elsie), Nick Makowski, Katie Makowski, and Matt Makowski (Alex, Vivian). Jean was a constant presence in their lives, celebrating each milestone with them. From birthdays and choir concerts to weddings and the births of their children. Her unwavering support and affection made her an extraordinary aunt, deeply involved in their upbringing.

Genevieve was known for her caring and thoughtful nature to friends and family. She always sent heartfelt greeting cards for every occasion, big or small, keeping her loved ones close in her thoughts.

In her leisure time, Jeannie enjoyed Bingo, going to movies, musicals, shopping, was a member of the Red Hats Society and an avid Elvis fan.

Jean's professional life was a reflection of her dedication and pride. She served the City of Camden's public works department as a dispatcher for 50 years, delighting her co-workers making daily coffee. Her long-standing commitment was honored in April with two proclamations from the Mayor of Camden and the Business Administrator.
